One of my favorite books/movies of the Christmas Season is The Polar Express.
Our school does a complete Polar Express Day filled with student’s wearing their Pajamas to school, watching the movie while enjoying hot cocoa and nilla wafers. (mmmmmmmm, I can taste the marshmallows on my lips.)
I decided to create a unit to utilize during the week to get my kiddos ready for the “big” day. My polar express themed packet is 123 pages.
There are 19 different math and 14 different literacy activities.
Some Math activities included are:
- Patterning
- Measurement
- Tally
- Counting
- Addition
- Graphing
- Ordinal Numbers
- Time
- Plus More…
Some Literacy activities included are:
- ABC Order
- Sight Words
- Rhyming Words
- Emergent Reader
- Syllable Counting
- Ending Sounds
- Beginning Sounds
- CVC Words
- Plus More…
To help get you into the spirit I added two freebies for you to enjoy

Teaching First
The Polar Express is my all time favorite children's book to read to my kids at Christmas! Unfortunately the 1st grade team at our school does a whole fun event surrounding the book, so when they get to us in 2nd they've already had all of the fun, but they still enjoy hearing the book again!

I am new to your postings, so this is probably my bad, but I can't find what grade you teach. I'm assuming it's K or 1st. Would it be possible for you to include that info on the cover pages of the units you have for sale? That way, I will know at first glance what age they are intended for. Thanks a bunch. You look like an awesome teacher. Good for you!
