Today, we began learning about pumpkins. There is just something about pumpkins that makes me smile… Is it the color? Oramge reminds me of my favorite team (Tennessee Volunteers).
Is it the smell? Make me think of all things pumpkin- Yum!! There is nothing like a fresh cup of joe with a ton of International Delight Pumpkin Spice Creamer- Sheer Heaven!!
Is it the pumpkins. Short or Tall, Skinny or Plump is there really an ugly pumpkin?
Maybe it’s simply the memories? Reminds me of all the trips to the pumpkin patch with my family. (Sweet memories always remain in your heart.)
And so the lesson begins simply activiting their schema. What do they already know about pumpkins? So many kiddos got excited and many shared their stories about going to the pumpkin farm and a few shared the fact that they had their very own pumpkin patch. This was a perfect way to intro my book. One of my favorites for introducing the parts of a pumpkin and the pumpkin life cycle.
After reading the story, we began working on our interactive notebook pieces. Erica Bohrer has the best pumpkin interactive science notebook. It was perfect for today’s lesson. We used the parts of a pumpkin and the life cycle of a pumpkin pages. Thanks Erica!!.
What for more details about our Pumpkin Palooza Activities coming this week.
